please see the attached diagram.
what i want to do is run 2 mosfets as source followers with a 1:10 step-up tranny in between. A) how does the secondary load of 2.2K interact with the input cap of the mosfet?? or is it the 2.2K in parallel with output impedance of transformer? B) If the input mosfet is a IRF610 what should the primary inductance of the IT be? C) Should I increase the 2.2K resistor? i guess the higher value of this resistor the thd decreases (at lease on the simulator)... but i don't want it so high to roll off the HF on the second mosfet. D) can i get away with a 1:20 step-up tranny if i increase the secondary load resistor? E) do i even need a resistor across secondary? F) maybe just a R/C network to tame any HF peaking on tranny? Thankyou for any help... if you have any more questions please feel free to ask!!

Maybe you could use BJT's instead. They are more linear than that mosfet and have much smaller input C. Some type of feedback would help?

how do i do a BJT emitter follower with transformer loading?
since the circuits are followers with a gain of 1... does linearity really matter??? Thanks!

Hi AudioGeek,
Most of us would avoid the use of interstage transformers. Among other things, they cost more. Yes, linearity always matters. -Chris |
