Hi. I was wondering is someone had any suggestions on what im about to ask. Are there any rackmount amplifiers that provide high grade sound at a relatively low price??>.............Im noticing that a lot of rackmount amplifiers are for dj's or are dj oriented. Do rackmount dj amplifiers such as, Crown, behringer, gemini, ART, differ all that much from standard amplifiers. I guess what im trying to ask is are they of enough quality to run a pair of good home audio monitors. Also does anybody have any suggestions for an audiophile grade rackmount amplifier for under $400?.

Hi rv1890,
Also does anybody have any suggestions for an audiophile grade rackmount amplifier for under $400?.
Mutually exclusive. It really depends on your definitions.

Pro amplifiers are optimized for high power, high temperature fault tolerant operation. Some sound okay.

Home audiophile grade amplifiers are optimized for sound quality. Some are able to put up with high temperature fault tolerant operation.

Two different animals. $400 is scrapping the low end unless you find a gem used.

yes

under $400

To name a few;

QSC RMX series
Crown XLS series
Behringer EP series
Carvin DCM series
Carver ZR series, B-stock {or new for under $600}

I wouldn't buy audiosource, gemini, pyle, pyramid,
unsure about ART.

If your budget is fatter, get some used QSC PLX series.
