Hi,
I have a "hum" problem with my Sony STR-DB830 AV amp. I get a very annoying hum from all speakers and it doesn't vary when I adjust the volume. I have tried disconnecting every thing except the main speakers, switching off all electrical appliances in the house (including battery operated ones) and grounding the chassis but it makes no difference. I've even tried it in a different house but it's still the same. I would take it to my local repair shop but they are not interested and there is nowhere else near enough to help. I'm very much a novice but would greatly appreciate any advice on where to look (in layman's terms). Everything else seems to work fine and it's not a loud hum, just enough to be really annoying. Cheers Kenny |

Things that make you go Humm! Look into those pesky old electrolytic
caps. Letting that nasty AC into the system from the transformer. Clean the boards with air can real good also. Close circuit paths can mean a hair will short a path. . . Let me know how it works. Chris |
