Bridging and Damping Factor
A reply was posted under the current "Class H" amplifier, and it stated that when you bridge am amp, you cut the damping factor in half.
I do not dispute this, but here's a point where my own logic would tell me that this is an inaccurate use of damping factor because although it would be cut in half, the whole picture is not being told. There are two amps being used, so I would think that the new DF, while lower because of bridging, would not detract from the sound given that everything else is equal (I could be wrong here).
And for another reason, why has the convention of damping factor lasted so long? Isn't it more accurate to state an amplifier's output impedance directly, rather than
(8 ohm load/ output impedance) = DF?
