This is a cheap, 12 year-old receiver that I just had my first trouble with. After it is turned on for about 5 minutes, sound stops and a "P" lights up on the display panel. I lost the manual. Any guesses as to what this might mean? Thank you!

It sounds like it's going into protection. I doubt you have an output stage problem, you get sound. It could be the AC detect capacitor going bad.
How much experience do you have and what if any test equipment do you have access to? -Chris |

I have an old yamaha RX_V293 receiver and it too has just started shutting itself off, although without the error message. I do have a multi-meter at my disposal but don't really know where to go with it. Any suggestions?
