I have to replace the transistors in a MC2300 driver boards. I think that these boards are the same as many Mc amps

I know that the drivers Q112-114 are 2N5320 and 2N5322

But what are the Q108-Q110 and Q102-Q104

Do someone has an idea about the original parts numbers or replacement parts numbers that have the same characteristics as original parts

Thanks

Hi Marc,
132-021 ->132-171 (MPSA05) 132-032 -> 132-172 (MPSA55) 132-038 -> 132-153 (2N5320) 132-039 -> 132-154 (2N5322)

From the industry numbers you should be able to replace these easily. If you use NTE or ECG I will not talk to you again. The semi police will come and smack you as well! ;)

Why are you changing all of them??

Chris

The amplifier was in a bar and was badly repaired. It has many burned resistors. All transistors were changed on boards and are not the same from one channel to the other one.

I bought 30 (real) Motorola MJ15003 and matched them for outputs. Don't worry. i don't plan to buy NTE junk.

it seems that 2N5322 and 2N5320 can't be found now. Any substitution recommended ?

A last question. What's the transistor # for Mcintosh part # 132-515

Thanks a lot

Best Regards

Hi Marc,
A bar amp. Standard hack service too. It never ceases to amaze me the things bar owners will run with, and the hackers they will employ.

You have your work cut out for you then. 132-515 ->132-028 (2N3738: 120V, 50mA)
The others might be replaced by 2N3440 and 2N5415. If you can't get those, another case style is needed. The originals Vceo 90V, 100mA, gain around 40. Dissipation around 10W on the heatsink.

I guess step one was clean, clean and clean.

Hi Chris

I know that TIP31C and TIP32C are TO220 but electrically, they appears to be near 2N5320 and 2N5322. If you think that they can do a great job, I'll use them.

Please, don't forget to give me the substitute for Mcintosh part # 132-031

Cleaning is done (a lot of job) and Output replacement is also done.

I plan to turn on the beast during next weekend

Thanks again

Marc

I've always had good luck with the parts people at McIntosh. They will usually tell you the cross numbers and replacements for obsolete numbers. Prices are a little higher but at least you know the parts will work. Give 'em a call. Do you need a schematic? I think I have the service manual on that one.

Damn they dont have the parts.
Am planning to clone a Mcintosh MC2KW amp its retail price I think is £14,000. If I can get the parts I pretty much will be able to make the amp for free. At the bottom of the MC2KW schematic it has the part number list, I was wondering if any of you knew how to translate the mcintosh part numbers into the original transistor numbers. Its been a real headache for me for the last week. Ive been struggling to clone any of the mcintosh amps. The resistors and capacitors, are no issue but the transistors are a major headache. please help!
thanks.

MC2105 preamp board repairs

I have been flowing this thread. The MC2300 sounds like it uses the same or very similar board (at least using the same part numbers) as the MC2105. I have traced my problem to transistors 132-021 and 132-032. the first is a 2n3738, but what is the replacement for 132-032? I think you said 2sa970bl, but I want to be sure before replacing it.

This unit also looks like it did bar duty, not so much smoke damage, but a lot of dust and a hack repair with lots of wrong parts in the final output section.

Thanks in advance,
Steven M.
