I think C2 is not necessary and even bad for the operation of the output stage.

I guess C2 is intended to turn it into a push pull. But simple is not always good...
This might be dangerous, during power up of the amp, C2 is empty and will open both output devices at the same time. Ouch ! Also PSRR is horrible this way. (Oh, Kuzmenko already mentioned) Mike |

Low voltage zeners have very poor knee characteristics, and the Vgs ot the IRF type FETs is temperatute sensitive.
Result is unstable bias. |
