I recently purchased an APT/Holman preamp and the corresponding APT amp. I know that there's a lot of mixed emotions regarding this setup, but the price seemed right. I'd like to use these as a basis for starting to learn about tweaking and upgrading.
Can anybody point me in the right direction regarding the brand/type of capacitors I should be looking at for this upgrade/replacement?
Also, I've seen some people talk that socketing and opamp upgrades would realize more of a benifit than a cap upgrade/replacement. I disagree with this, but I would like to hear others thoughts.
I'd like to actually do both, but I'll be honest. This would be my first upgrade/tweak. Up until now it was only electronics repair. Finding the dead circuit, finding the fault and soldeirng in the exact same component.
So I need some help in picking out brands and types of replacement caps and op-amps. As well as a source for these parts. (I can say the people at Digi-Key know me well)...
Thanks in advance everyone, and I appreciate your help!

Hi, I am late but here is the info, as you wrote this on 2006 please let me know what have you change on it
Here is a post where I describe all you have to do, I did it myself because I work repairing Audio Gear but if you do a training of desoldering and soldering only you need to be carefull with caps polarity 😉
