Default High voltage isolation from set-top-box ?

Hi,

New digital cable TV offers 24-hr music channels to subscribers. I upgraded the old analog system to this new service. I have a problem connecting audio-out from my set-top-box to my stereo. High voltage leaks into the RCA cables, certainly into my preamp.

Is there any concern about such leak ? I'm afraid my preamp will burn. Is there a way to isolate high voltage ?

Thanks.

Hi bordins,
That's a common problem over here too. See if the cable company can supply a 1:1 Balun to break the cable ground connection. I normally install this as the first connection from the street. That way you won't get a sneak path back through something else. You may need on to the TV if it's generating noise on the ground.
