I have a Phonic Max860 amplifier (yeah I know very cheap knock off brand), but it's rated at 300 watts per channel, and it was a good deal at the time.
I looked inside and the first thing I thought was, well, WOW that's a big torroid, and then I thought that the easiest upgrade was there was a jumper where I could put in another electrolytic capacitor on the main supply rails. And then I was looking at the main signal inputs and there appears to be ceramic caps in the signal chain... That could really be a problem for sonics... And then there are a lot of parts I don't understand, LOL. Anyway, here are some close ups, any thoughts about the design or possible upgrades? I never use this amp and if worse comes to worse, I could just use the Torroid for a new project. http://hilltop.bradley.edu/~bjackson/Phonic/ has all of the pictures in much higher quality. |
