Unhappy Oh help me , geat know-it-all's ! (fix internals of amp)

Hi, i just purchased a pioneer E06 av thx amp (off ebay) and have just turned it on and it wont select any inputs & on-screen setup fails to start......

I opened it up and found one of the ribbon cables is VERY bent & has a few kinks in it and it looks like the problem as its linking the front mounted pcb to the input/output boards.

Now, i need to know where to get this ribbon cable , im in the UK aswell so that usually makes things like this a little harder, i really don't want to send it back as i got it for a bargain price but i don't want to fork out for a repair bill either.........

btw the cable has around 30 "connectors" on each end & they are all separated down the entire cable.

many thanks in advance , James.

What kind of cable is it, is it a plastic one with the tracks printed on it? If so, good luck getting one...

if it's normal cable simply check each conductor in the cable with a multimeter on continuity mode and see if any cables are broken. If this is the case you can splice some new ribbon cable into the connectors.

Just a question - do you have any experience with electronics ? It sounds like you're not familiar with repair.

hi, yes its a plastic one with the conductors running through it....

anyway i tried the multimeter on it & they are all fine anyway -

so looks like it has to go back to pioneer for them to play with

and btw , im no tech but get by with the knowlege i have

thanks for the advice
