Default Troubleshooting a free amp...

I picked up a Bogan GS-150 amp today. Problem is that I can't get any sound out of it at all right now. The real problem is that I am unsure how to connect the guitar to it. I know that the guitar works, and that the 8ohm speaker works.

I have looked, without success to find what the impedance of an electric guitars' output signal is. If I knew that, I could at least verify that I connected everything correctly, and could proceed troubleshooting it further.

I apprieciate your patience! Thanks!

Hi beamerider,
Does that amp have a mic input? At the very least, you need that to get anything out of a Bogen Paging amp.

Or, is it a Bogan amplifier, never heard of that brand.

It is a Bogen Paging/Public address amp. I figured out that the guitar is around 600 ohms, and if that is that case I was connecting it corectly. Since I got nothing (sound) from the unit, I am sure that it is defective. Probably somewhere in the output side, but that remains to be seen! I'll get around to T/S'ing that later.

Check it out... My girlfriend (of three years) bought me a bass! A Fender no less. Needless to say, I'm stoked and I played it for about six hours tonight.

Thanks for the reply, I won't apologise for being a newbie, but thanks none the less. Have a good one.

Hi beamerider,
The amp is still a current product. You have 4 XLR Mic inputs and two screw terminal selectable Mic inputs. Switchable phantom power too. Cool.
So if you are plugged into a mic input, especially XLR, it should make noise. Make sure the phantom is turned off.

Bogen amps are generally straight forward to repair. The owners manual does not have the schematic in it, but . here it is.
