Default AA-1800 - what to do?

I just acquired a Heathkit aa-1800 that I had intended to use for its chassis only. After doing some research, I find that it is a Leach Superamp design, which is fairly well regarded. I had planned on using the chassis for a JLH but now wonder if I should try and revive it. It is missing the transformer(s) and a PCB of some kind. All the MJ15025s look original and the boards in good shape. The protection board is there and looks okay.

The question is what the missing board was and is it worth the $30 for a service manual to start checking it? And why two power cords?

thanks, amt

if i am not mistaken, one power cord connects direct to the wall, the other to a switched outlet on a preamp, kind'a remote control if you will. i read the review in a radio electronics magazine many many years back.

can you post some pics?

maybe some member here have a set of schematics!

the power traffo is very heavy, but torroids make a nice substitute!
