How about converting it into a balanced bridged amp which could solve the feedback issue.

It could turn out to be the ideal amp..................... ...............any comments?

Very interesting !
Can solve the problem, but I have some questions.
Doesn't feedback path get twice as long?
I mean double phase shift, double distortion?

On first look, you are feeding back output from amp1 to amp2 and vice versa,
in this case it is very unlikely that the fb does reduce distortions ?

darkfeniz,

You do raise a good point. The circuit would work best with balanced drive but you would have doubled the slew rate and almost four times the power (assuming an ideal power supply) and feedback should correct for some of the distortion.

I have a gut feeling this would turn out to be a great amp...........I have been considering this topology for some time......I need to get around to building it.............

Regards,

Jam

Mike,

I woud think we might have to ask Mr.Pass that question.

It just came to me that if we made each gain stage inverting would it not then qualify as an X-Amp.

I ment inherent distortion in the amp rather than the possible added distortion added by bridgeing the amp.

Ok...Ok

How about this................remove all the global feedback apply more degeneration and set the gain by R1.

Should make all the feedback hating diyer's happy.........a non global feedback bridged amp....... .............comments?

Why not ?

But, now you are forced to use a really balanced inputsignal ?

Mike,

Not really................grounding the - input should work with single ended inputs .......
