Power Amplifier is Quiet / Broken?
I 'inherited' a new looking Peavey 1500 power amp.
The output is very very low but audible on both channels. Nothing seems to get too hot for comfort, and all of the channel LEDs light up. The power supply seems OK, and there is a breaker, not a fuse which seems OK too. This thing looks literally brand new. Where do I start? I'm a small preamp person, not a power amp person. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
I don't know the PV1500 but did you look at the back, perhaps you used a wrong input or a switch might need some flipping.

I'm an idiut (sp!)
Sometimes an engineer overlooks the obvious.
There were these newer style connectors that combine the XLR and line inputs on the back. I was using one of the crossover outs as an in... I've been staring at this thing on my bench for literally a year now, after testing it once. Would have helped to download a manual I guess - - - yeesh. It works fine. On the brighter side... I am curious about proper power amp diagnostics now... |
Any specs, sound impression, build quality? Is it one of the newer peavey's? I guess SMPS instead of conventional PSU.
