I am going to ask this here since i inadvertently buried this question in a post in another section. You techys will probably be able to answer this better anyways.
Do inductors saturate at a frequency or a given voltage ? ANd when they do, would it be audible in a passive crossover. ? The only time i am hearing distortion is at higher volume on sustained bass notes in music material. Becaus ei only have the one 2 x 35 watt 70's pioneer amp i cant tell if its a lack of power or the iron cores losing all properties for a milli second do to saturation ( which i dont completely understand obviously ). will switching to air core be noticably better, or just magic wire superstition?

Hi Mike,
I always use Large diameter upto 5" AirCore Edge wound coils in my passive crossovers because air-core is unsaturable in nature when high currents pass through them, whereas iron-core saturates if their linear flux region is exceeded...creates distortion alot at low frequencies.... Kanwar

Well then that might explain that noise. I am going to buy something , anything to make air core inductors because i cant seem to buy what i need. Cakk right out with low frequencies my first thought was amp power, second one was x-over components.
Correction my first thought was my x-over PERIOD
