I have finally finished my amplifier after $800 and two years (one year I just sat on my rear).
Other than the amplifier board which I couldn't make myself due to the design being double sided, I started everything from scratch (minus case). The amplifier was designed by Randy Slone, it utilizes 2SK1058/2SJ162 Lateral mosfets. 140W rms -3dB frequency response is excellent 3Hz~140KHz, distortion is below 0.003% across the audio spectrum and exhibits soft clipping when overdriven. More important than the above mentioned mumbo jumbo is that it sounds good to me. pictures at http://members.shaw.ca/joonyoung |
