I'd like to hear about the tantalums, also, although I'm not sure where I could source them without paying a fortune.

Is anyone else out there interested in a "fully modern" version? I'm fascinated by possibilities of using SMD jfets, if there is a complementary pair available, for instance.

Cheers

yeah smd matched fets, precision smd components and rf friendly layout would be interesting to try

diyhifisupply on ebay has tants if you are interested. the price is still pretty high though.

This sounds more and more like an interesting project. Anyone know of a good complementary pair of SMD jfets? In fact, the only things that most likely couldn't be SMD would be the output trannies and the big resistors on their collectors...

Thoughts?

Cheers

Default PCBsneeded

Hi I have all the components for le monstre battery powered but I need someone to make the two PCBs for me. I have the transparencies for the PCBs to send him.

Can anyone make these for me?
Or is there any company that can undertake this for just two pieces and exporting to Greece?

Any help will be appreciated
Thanks

Hi,
Other practical suggestion: built the components in "spider web" ... it's a nice (green) & KIS solution (for an apple and a egg).
Best regards from Brussels.

Hi Neazoi,
I'm back in my home in Holland so i think i can make some PCB's in a few weeks from now.. (my container is still on the way to here and i need to order the material for it)
If you are in a real hurry (which i doubt ;-) ) you should look for another source.
I will make them just the old fashioned way: no printing and no soldermasks but i will use the blue epoxy.
I don't think shipping an envelope to Greece will cost that much...
In total it will be a matter of just a few euro's i guess (PCB's included) I cannot give you the exact amount yet...
(BTW i thought you would make the PCB's yourself??)

Hi Guys,

I just saw a method which is really easy and quick and inexpensive to make a pcb,

http://www.instructables.com/id/Spon...ch-Circuit-Bo/

here is the link.

It seems so simple and that its silly.. but it looks like it will work well

Default I have built some hiraga monsters

From my experience of building hiraga monsters.

2sc5200 , 2sa1943 pair worked fine.
driver was 2sc23421 , a1358 pair .

circuit of kk-pcb (http://www.kk-pcb.com/hiraga.html)
aso worked but front fet is quite different .

k246 has larger pinch off voltages. gm is smaller .
(Erno Boberly mentioned k170 , k246 differncies in his article.)

I think k170 /j74 pair is better.
