Has anyone experience with the noise performace of a p-JFET as first stage of a MC preamp? I've seen a lot of designs using a 2SK170 or similar as first amplifying stage. But what about a complementary input stage using a 2SJ109 and a 2SK389 as first stage? The datasheet says that the noise figure is the same. The only tradeoff seems the higher reverse transfer capacitance. A complementary N-JFET and P-JFET using all 4 transistors of the 2SK389 and 2SJ109 should also have 6 dB less noise than using only a single JFET. And is the noise performance of a 2SJ109 worse than a 2SK170?
