amp crackling/farting?

I recently got a Randall RG 200 Amp
It gets very crackly when I give it any amount of volume and I have to turn the Bass EQ way down. What's going on? It also doesn't seem to get that loud.

Unless the speaker is bad, it sounds like you might be clipping. First, I would verify all the power supplies. Both the power amp supplies and the preamp supplies. One could be missing or the filter might have failed on one resulting in seriously reduced voltage and the addition of hum or distortion.

And certainly an op amp might have failed and is squeezing the signal over against one of the rails.

I've also had this from a bad driver or output transistor. They kind of half worked, measured OK with diode test.

thanks for the help guys.
I am leaning towards it being a bad voice coil. here is some more info. It seems to be good through my headphones. Also I ran it out to my reciever (similar to what I do with my POD) and it did sound better..
