Hmmm (no pun intended), I wonder why my trafo generates so much EMI then; I know it's wound very tightly.

Nope...otherwise moving the transformer away from the driver boards wouldn't help. This is EMI.

More isolation on the inputs seems to help a little. Also, my tube preamp makes some noise of its own, and the trafo EMI and the preamp noise seem to cancel each other out! I increase the volume of the preamp, and the total noise is reduced. Very weird.
