All the Hawk designs are extremely innovative, and show signs of huge R&D and attention to detail.
I would suggest that for this kind of intellectual property 95 euros is very cheap. The amp probably performs as well as a $5K component; don't begrudge them the cost of the pcbs. Cheers, Hugh |

maartentje, have you tried e-mailing Hawk?
I had the same problem that I could not afford the full kit (they were not selling only PCB at that time) and I contacted them. John Van Der Sluis himself was so generous that he sent me the gerber files for free and I had them done locally ![]() I have been enyoing my amp now for a bit more than a year. Believe me the 95 EUR is worth it. Ergo PS. Please anyone do not even ask - I will not send the gerber files to anyone.... |

Indeed, 95 euro is not too much a price for the intellectual property in that power amp. The A18 is quite wonderful with matching loudspeakers (high impedance, high sensitivity), and its design shaped my own thinking more than just about anything else.

Hai there,
At the moment i play with the John Linsley Hood amplifier but my dynaudio's nuance are 4ohm speakers thats the reason that i want to build the hawk a-18 because it hase a little more power and no feedback. Greetz Maarten |
