I am building an electronic crossover and need some help on selecting the input impedance for balanced to single ended and then after the filter section going from single ended to balanced.

Hi,
check your spec sheet for the preamp for a clue. It is usual for the input impedance to be about 10 times the output impedance of the previous stage, but there is a lot of leeway here. Long interconnects are susceptible to interference and low impedances are more resistant to interference, often 10r output and 600r input is used in balanced mode. Your following stage may have a very low input impedance and also a high voltage drive requirement. This combination may require a substantial current ability that is beyond many buffers and it needs to be balanced. regards Andrew T. |
