i have a technics amp su v500 nothing special lol but every time i turn it up it switches off can someone help

Assuming that the speakers are OK, the first thing I'd do is check for a speaker wire short.

Is this one of the amps with the round fan in back? I've had a couple of Technics amps brought to me recently with a similar problem turned out to be bad connections on the fan. Apparently it's part of the protection cct.
