Default help with input pot please

Hello,
I have an Alps dual 20k pot (21 click version) on the input of one of my amps. After the 5th turn, the volume no longer increases. I have it simply hooked up as input signal to the pot, ground to ground, and the other pin to the input stage of the amp. Is there something I can do to pad it down so to speak so that I must turn the pot through all 21 turns to reach full volume?

Thanks!

Mark

I'm not sure if I understand your hook up correctly?

I should be like this:

Input
|
|
|--- to amp (center pin)
|
|
Gnd

It appears to be a linear Any fix for that? (besides getting the right pot to begin with)
