Book to learn about amp building

Hi folks,

I am currently looking for a good book that introduces
me to all the fundamental concepts of how an amp works
(for DIY newbies). Well, something that explains these
things like "input stages", principal operation etc. to me.

Do you have any recommendation, something that
could enlighten me? I have a very basic understanding
of electronics, I know what transistors, diodes, resistors
etc. are doing and I can also solder. I even built a few projects.
However, I really want to learn more now and know all those
details so I can understand what you guys here are talking about!

Are the books by Randy Slone worth a recommendation?

Hi,
I recommend two books
The Art of Linear Electronics by John Linsley Hood.
Audio Power Amplifier design handbook by Douglas Self.
Both start with introductory chapters and progress in some detail with the various circuits found in analogue electronics and manage to avoid high levels of mathematics. They base much of their writing on real life circuits with plenty of examples and options.
