Simple question to revive an old thread... I understand that bronze can be used as a heat sink material, but what about brass. I salvaged some brass plates, about 15" X 8" and are 1/2" thick. Probably 60/40 brass is my guess as they were cut out on a press. Still, quite heavy though. I would like to affix fins to it from some scrap 3" square aluminum tubing I have lying around, and use a fan. Would this work?
All the trouble I've ever been in started out as fun......

brass is much worse than copper for heat conduction.

Check to find how it compares to aluminium.

For blown use the fins can and should be very close together.
About 8 to 10mm for unblown and 1 to 3mm for blown.
You need a thickness to fin height of about 1 to 10 for aluminium fins.
Attach all the aluminium to the back plate with heatsink compound (messy).

What about corrosion? Will this interfere with the conduction interface?
