Hy to all,
I have some questions about Leach Amp PSU I intend to build this amp with 32900 uF per rail, the result of 7x4700 uF capacitors wired in parallel ... Is this a problem ? In other words is the same thing if I use 10x1000 uF capacitors always wired in parallel instead of one single capacitor rated at 10000 uF ? One more question ? The toroidal transformer from Victoria Magnetics has 6 Amps on each winding I mean 6+6 = 12 Amps or 6 Amps represent the total current 3+3 = 6 Amps ????? Please help ... adrianbodor, |

Hi,
1: It's not quite the same having multiply caps in parallel or using one. The advantage of using multiple parallel caps is a reduction in internal resistance (ESR) which is very nice. So 7x 4.700 uF could work out better than a single 33.000 uF cap, unless the 4.700uF caps have a very poor ESR..... 2: 6 amps on each winding gives 12 amps when two windings are placed in parallel, but just 6 amps when used in series. Most of the time windings are used in series to get a positive and a negative power supply, with 6 amps thus available. Succes.... |

Is there any diference between using Wima film capacitors MKS 2 instead those listed by Dr. Leach ... i mean those caps that are film based ...
0.1uF/100V 0.1uF/50V 0.01uF/50V If I use these tree values in Wima caps MKS 2 version at 100V all of them would make any diference ? I don't have the posibility to buy at 50V only at 100V ... pls help .... |
