Hello,
my plea must sound weird, but then, there's a piece of audio equipment I really like which started malfunctioning. It is an oldtimer Hitachi HA5500 amp from cca 1980. One of the channels has developed distortion and no lab in Israel can do anything without a schematic diagram. Although I am now using it only to listen to old records, I'd love to see it rejuvenated again. Is there anybody out there old enough to have materials on this amp? Sincere thanks, Dejan (dejan@iec.co.il) |

Hi !
I would say, if only one channel is defect, it's possible to trace the fault by comparing measurements between working channel and defect channel. This way you don't need schematics. If amp is not too complex it should be possible to identify basic structure. For an amp that old it's very likely that some electrolytic has died. It's annoying, but electrolytics do age... Mike |
