Question sub amp question

I'm looking into sub amps to drive a pair of Stryke Audio AV12 subs. Ideally I'd like 1kw of power each into 4 ohms, but due to the cost my preference at present is for a local Altronics PA amp which puts out 450w x 2 into 4 ohms and costs $AUD 450 on special.

Has anyone had experience with Altronics amps?

Has anyone heard anything about them?

Comments, suggestions, anyone?

Hey Paul,

Yeah I saw the specials catalogue today. This is amazing value. No way could I build this for even twice the money.

Iv'e never tried one but if the specs are bona-fide (no reason not to be) you gotta go for it. Maybe you could bridge the two stereo amps to get near the 1kw.

S/N ratio is a little low at 90dB but hey for a sub amp dussentmatter.

This amp is only 4 ohm stable, hence not bridgeable. Part of the reason why so cheap. I did notice the SN ratio, but it seems ok hopefully. Distortion isn't that great, but again, looks ok for a sub.
