Hey everyone, i hope this is the right forum for this; if not move it where it needs to go. I have a question about PC sound cards. My computer is noisy when pluged in to speakers or headphones.. a lot of hissing, whining, weird noises that totally go away when i unplug the speakers. So I'm wanting to do some recording and stuff of some guitar and drums and dont want a bunch of noise when i play it back or whatever.. even when not recording noise is not good of course. Is this just the sound card making all this noise? I have an old(er) HP pavillion computer.. just the stock sound card in it. Any hints would be greatlt appreciated. Thanks all.

i had the same problem..i am running winXP Pro, so the following steps are for this OP system

go to control panel
click sounds and audio devices
on the volume tab, on the device panel click advanced
on master out, go to options then properties
click OFF anything other than Master Out, Digital, Wave and MIDI

hope that helps
