im trying to design/build an amplifier from the scratch can someone tellme the "best" transistors to use? :D

i mean some nice transistor to made an high end AMP.

hope someone understand my question

2SA1216 and 2SC2922 are ok, thats are the transistors that have my yamaha amp. but its not high end (i think)

If you are building a smaller amp with only one pair of outputs, the MJ21193/94 are better than the other types mentioned.

The speed on the others drops like a rock at high current.

If you're driving 200W/8R with four pair of the others, there is only 1.75A (peak) per device and they are OK.

If you're doing 100W/4R with one pair (in an ESP 3A for instance) you are running 7A (peak) per device, use the MJ21193/94.

Even for high voltage I still prefer the MJ211XX series, they have twice the safe area in the 80V~100V region, and twice the Delta T at typical junction temperatures, so I only need one steel cased TO3 instead of three plastic devices.

well i dont want so much Watts, i just want an nice High End amp, with 100W will be ok, because my room is just 6m x 4m (24 m^2)

i think that to start will be ok to understand how it work, and start with an simple conf, with just one pair of transistors, and maybe later try others.

Hi Samsagaz!

It is a brave idea to design your own high end amp from scratch.
You will not only need the right transistors.... also not only the right
passive components....
It's also a lot about the right topology. And if you have decided about the basic topology and components then still your choice of the component's values can turn the sound to any direction....
...further: Layout, PSU, thermal design....

But I can understand you very well. DIY from scratch is
the real challenge.
...started to play around 20 years back.... , but
did not manage to combine my demands regarding ruggedness
and power with real high end....
Well and then I was inactive about for about ten years and
now sometimes feeling like a school boy since I entered this
forum last winter....

What I want to say:
It will become harder than you expect. But it is worth it!
Never give up!

My hint:
Before you start your design, first try to listen to amps with
different topologies.
So you may find the basic direction, which matches best to your ears.

Cheers
Markus

Hi djk !

I am talking about the MJL21193/4, but they have the same die.
I once directly compared the mjl21193/4 with the mjl3281/1302,
the 3281/1302 definitely sounded better. They have somehow
more powerful sound and better details/separation.
I exchanged these bjts in the same amp.
But you are right, the 21193/4 are more robust !
My actual poweramp uses a single pair of 3281/1302 driving 4ohm
speakers, no problem. (Okay, it has only 50watts... but it's painful
to drive it into clipping, so enough power for me)
