This text is directed to the ones have AKSA amplifiers, and also to the ones that believe in subjective group hearing tests.
The text is a little confused, as confused was realise that kind of test in a non well prepared place to do that kind of work.
Our audio Club is closed because of enormous work beeing done in the street ahead the Club, the cars are not passing to our parking place.
We used some instruments too, microphone, audio generator, AC voltimeter, switches and test materials.

Hugh knows more about the ASKA than anyone else and if he says a mod is going to or not going to work I believe him and even if he said the Earth was a cube I'd believe him as he has a honest quality that is rare these days and he really does care that his amps sound their best........ I think he said it somewhere that he doesn't want any under performing ASKA's around.
I think what you have highlighted with your test is that the listening room is a big part of the stereo system and if I understand properly your ASKA being lower on bass was due to the overly bright room bringing out too much top end.
The ASKA is not light in bass but is a bit different in it's presentation than other amps IMO. Mine thumps nicely when it has to and even better now with the Nirvana + upgrade which is still running in.
Sounds like you guys had heaps of fun and I thought with all those guys in there they would have dampened the room for you, unless there were a lots of bald guys

The best!, having good quality distance from the second in my friends ranking.
Also i had around 200 models from many Japanese, European, American and Brazilian brands...no one coud go close to this reproduction.
I am stopping to test amplifiers...now i think the one to improve is the speaker.

And i started to control 2 years before start.... i counted the ones i remember those 2 years.... and i did no remembered all them.
Assembling since 9 years old, the first was one single stage class A.
Now i have 54 years old, 45 years doing amplifiers as a crazy maniac... i decide to stop...i was searching the best...but the speaker was always destructing my evaluations...speaker is a bad element in audio chain.
Lets see the maximum possibility, as i have a very clever and fast way to assemble.... dirty way, without care of appearance, in squared boards, and over the copper, alike one spider... with a confusion mass of some wiring, despite i make conections directly and some with solder flux... some wire remains, as ground wiring, and output transistor wiring too.
Lets see the maximum possible:
2 each day, 45 years.....2 X 365 X 45 = 32850 units maximum.
As you see, beeing a fanatic, i am also lazy....i worked 2 days only each week, doing not two each day....i may be done one each day and 2 each week.
Awfull result....What a shame, working 6 hours a day, because television here is this way.... i could make much more if not lazy.

Its good for you that your 45 year quest is finally over. You can go to your god a happy man.
For me your news is a little sad because I started the same quest 3 years ago and have built only 9 and with 6 in the planning stage. Unfortunately my first amp was a AKSA 55 so it looks like my quest was over before it really started.
I'll have to step up the pace a bit if I'm going to build 4158 amps, at the rate I'm going I'll have to live till I'm 1430 years old.
BTW: Out of interest, have you ever used mind altering drugs.

Yes grege, i tried all drugs when i was young
Those days, peace brother, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones era, i tried once Marijuana, the "canabbis".... and tried once LSD, tried Ether and some drug used to Keep your nose clean.. to open the nose apperture (hole) to breath easier.
But do not like beer, nor alcohol and stopped the first try... i felt awfull...my drug was girls, those i "drunk" many many bottles....hehe.
Now a days i used sometimes some kind of "amphetamine" that is used as "anti depressive" medicine... together with some Diuretic (to make pipí) and some other kind of easy output aid natural medicine...made of plants and herbs.
The "amphetamine" makes me happy sometimes....really made, when i started to use, now a days , 3 monthes passed, has not more effect...but give some energy to work, easy to wake up and hard to sleep, you sexual energy explode and you turn yourself a terrible haunt man... cannot go to sad places...because when started to use (to reduce hungry and to make myself move, to walk to move the body...moving with my wife...poor spanish beauty)...i was smilling of tragedies...now i am without the effect.... 4 days without using my "miracle", that made me loose 41 kilograms weigth.
But if you think my hapiness and enthusiasm related the 55 or other forum things...this is my nature..... i am a vibrating guy related amps...and this forum, is something that appear in my mind as something God make "specially for me"...this is my beach man!
And sorry for you,you started by the last amplifier...your game is finished.
Make the same i will make...i will go to speaker forum...hehe... improve my knowledge to "fix" the speaker troubles..... the problem is that work with those standard things needs machinery.
Lets try some hi voltage arc modulated.....hummmm, lets try!

I have a AKSA so I'm "happy and enthusiastic" on the inside, but it doesn't show on the outside.
My wood working skills are bad. I have make a pair of small bookshelf speakers for practice, but I have very high expectations and only ordinary skills in wood working.

Your people seems to be organized.... incredible dedicated to hierarquic values and respect.... discipline is the main word that i could capture living with my uncle Herbert Schrool, from Bavária...Bayern....Bayerisch..do not know..the place you make the BMW (best world car).
I saw the respect, the discipline...the respect one each other, the strengh to work hard...my dear cousins, since very young gonne to Herbert Electro Bavaria to reppair, together with the father, enormous trains electricity moved engines..... they worked hard since 10 years old... full of grease in their ligth blond eyes.
Herbert made economy all his life to put money in the company that grown into an entire square... full of germans inside...Eggon, Heindrich, Heinrich, Karl, Weismann, Kaufmann... all them half brazilian and half German people... i know you very well, because my cousins.
This way, as i know this German modified sample, i think you do the things perfect.... clean work, made slow..... squared.... dimensions perfect... very strong assemble....a german work.... can support some hard explosion the things you make....heavy with strong material always made to "endurance" use.
That kind of work spend a lot of time....my way is fast and dirty...you will laugh to fall from your chair, if not fall liquid into your pants!.... i use squared copper boards.....i use to remove the copper with some thin steel point and one "german" steel rule.... STAEDLER 50 years old new metal rule...or 30 years old...not sure.....and over this squares i assemble parts making direct conections with some colector with its own resistor.... some connections is made with wire... the one used to telephone cables...you touch its point with the solder iron and some metal appear fast to receive solder and go to the squared copper islands over the board.... assembling is over the board.... to be fast and easy to make conference... to make check up..... the schematic is seen easy...the left components at left place... the rigth at its origine places..... looking the schematic i make the assemble fast....never more than 30 minutes doing.... 15 minutes first check... and now i put resistors in series and voltage to make the final check, and adjust something.
The awfull looking assemble cannot make you proud....but it is enought to hear if the one is good or not, to decide to spend a good time to make it to stay long time with you...
As i am not easy to satisfy, and also think we go backwards when we jumped from tubes to transistors.... and the things is beeing more complicated and sounding worst..... i never do the things to be assembled... as i will not hear bad sound...this way, as economy not to fix parts, and having not to buy new components... i use the same to new amplifiers.... always with same voltage and i recalculate some resistors to adapt to my working voltage....have 35 plus 35.....45 plus 45 and 65 plus 65.
also regulated supply, stabilized and adjusted simetrical unit to test those class A amplifiers...
But i am going to retire.....found something good.... will go to speaker research...those awfull piston things....aaaaagh!
If you reduce your exigence related appearance..... making the things only to try and junk!... you will be fast as i am....construct to stay...the one you really like...the problem is that....the one you love today, will be worst compared to some new one.... and you will send to trash a lot of work ours....better to make everything only to test, not considering not finished..... as we do not know the tomorrow ideas that will came.
People made Leach amplifier..... now the unit is loose for a lot of other units...they have a heavy weigth monsters inside their houses to smash their foot fingers if the "dinossaurs" scaped from your hands and fall down...if you live in a wooden house.... it will reach the first floor, maybe smash some important person or even the Chocolate cake!

Am i wrong...hehe.... i think i am not...had samples of sausage eaters... roastbratwurst eatters.....now you very well... at 6, alike a military squadron... all ready to work.... the older one enter the car, and next the youngest.....when the old father talk... no one discuss.... and i felt hearing "Wagner" or some military march...they gonne to work daily at exactly 6 o'clock.... at exactly 12o the Voslkswagen noise are heard.....and with a strip the enter to lunch...first the obbercomand.... and behing the older son...hehe.... 20 minutes late.... i could hear in my mind the drums again... and the military march.... the volkswagen motor runned at 12:21 and they go to work...not talking, not making noise, not smilling.. alike going to a war.
