Hot Rod mods?

I just picked up a Park G10 amp that is obviously solid state, 10 watts and in need of some upgrades. I am not that into electronics but i do understand the basics. I was told by a friend that I should replace the IC1 chip with a TL072 chip and chip socket. He also recommended that I change the TDA2030 to a TDA 2050. Does this sound right? How do I remove the old chips? Do I just pull the out and plug in the new ones or do I need to solder them in? I was also wondering where you get these chips. I would like to eventually replace the speaker with something better that doesn't cost very much. Does this sound right? I am looking for better tone, etc. What do you guys think?

How do you know it's in need of upgrades?

Well it is pretty weak sounding, I figured the mods I described above would help give it more of a "Marshall" sound. Just looking to make it sound better than average.
