opinion on MOSFET amp?

Which is better?

- JFET voltage gain stage on input with mosfet follower on output
- buffer stage on input with mosfet gain stage on output?

this is for a SE Class A amp.

mosfet probably loaded with either a choke or an output transformer.

I wouldn't comment if this is for commercial use.
For personal use I'd say you should use buffer with MOSFET gain stage. It would be interesting with a transformer coupled output.
Choke load would still need a capacitor. That's two unwanted things. With a transformer ( better understood ) and direct speaker connection to the secondary , you'd be in a more commonly used area. I would think it is a better configuration to try out. Capacitors are so finiky you may end up using one costing a fortune to sound good.
I've been trying to find something ( cheaper ) as good as a coupling capacitor from Jensen PIO ( paper in oil ) and I haven't found one yet.
So out with caps if you can manage it !
