Default Tvc preamp

I have just built a Tx102 based pre amp. I am unsure whether I have wired it up correctly and could do with some help I have wired the input to the wire marked "++" and the earth to "-"

It is switching in the gain that is confusing me. I have joined "--" and "+" together and wired the switch so that the input either goes as above or to the summed "+" and "--" is this right?

Also I have no DC blocking cap, do I need one? If so what should I use? Will it degrade the sound?

Thanks for any help

Iain
