Acurus amplifiers

Hi all,

I want to built something simple but nice sounding. What comes to
mind is the power amp section of the Acurus DIA 100, DIA 150.
I believe I have a schematic somewhere and if remember it correctly
it was not too complicated.

With a few mods and the usage of the transistors I have it can be done.

So, my question is: Did anyone audition theese units.
I did but that was long ago so I don't remeber....

I had the A250 which at that time struck as a fairly solid and well sounding amplifier with lots of oompf.

Did you remember any anomalies on vocals at the high end of the
frquency spectrum (Female voices, one of my passions in life).

The reason I'm asking is because many amps I've heard adds some
distortion like timbre from moderate output and up on vocalists etc.

Yes, my tweeters are perfectly OK.

Not really. I have a vague memory of it sounding a little bit on the dull side that is never really coming to life. Otherwise quite nice.

OK,
As long as it does not produce too much artifacts at the high end it
will be fine.
The project wont be targeted towards foolproof, ultra-fi. Just a descent
reliable amp I'm gonna use for music and some testing.

btw It is not likely it will have the exact signature af the original since
I'm gonna use my own stock of parts.

i have found out that Acurus DIA100 was using 2sa1302 and 2sc3281 - 2 pairs of output transistors and that 2sa1837 and 2sc4793 were driver transistors......
unfortunately no schematic and no service manual from any of the products from Acurus -
