well, it's finally in process -- the solid state amp/ chipamp power supply test bed -- the picture attached is of what used to be a regulated Trygon supply which would put out 19 Volts at 55 Amps and 16 Volts at 15 Amps -- figuring that there was a lot of overhead by virtue of the huge number of transistors etc., I found that the transformer will deliver just about the max for the LM3886, discrete amps, etc. Too bad there isn't enough juice there for the Lateral MOSFETs and On-Semi's high voltage BJT's. The original output of the supply was in the form of "blades" 1/8" thick and 1/2" wide at the rear of the supply.
At any rate, the purpose is to test combinations of rectifiers, filter caps, bypass, regulation in a "space" that's easy to access, generate the kind of empirical results that have been lacking in some of the discussions. Will post further as progress warrants: |
