Hi @ all
I have a Sony XM-1502SX XPlod amp. There were two FET in the audio curcuit that caused a short. I replaced the FET and hooked the amp to my 12V power supply using a 6.8Ohm resistor in series to prevent the amp if the power supply was bad. Ok, no more overcurrent or warning lights anymore. So I connected the amp to 12VDC without the resistor in series and turned it on. When the Sony is turned on it draws a 4 Ampere idle current. The idle current is not stated in the userīs manual. Does anyone have specs on that amp ? I know of some older JBL/Harman amplifiers that idle currents with more than 3Ampere ..... What else could I check ? The rectifier diodes are ok and each capacitor reading was 2200ĩF so they should be fine, too. Thx Steph |

Ok I got it. There was still a broken FET in the other channel. It didnīt have a real short but had a permanent low resistance between S and D.
Replaced the one, adjustet idle . Tested ok DC-current w/o load is now aprox. 1.5A |
