I have been told it was a Burr Brown 604.

I've played with 604's and 2604's and I've seen worse.
Considering that they're running their volume control through a monolithic multiplier, what op amp do you think would measure up to the job? |

They use AD823 for I/V conversion (after the volume DAC) and discreet output buffers (MAT02EH and MAT03EH) That said, OPA2604 sounds pretty good in that preamp.

Thanks all for clearing my doubts. It looks to me that the 380S uses a combinations of different opamps from BB and AD. I'll go ahead to change the opamp in my 38S and see if it will provide a better performance by just using all 2604s.
Best regards, |

How about if you switch the output transistors first. The N° 380s uses MAT 02 and MAT 03 there and to my experience with my Levinson N°380s they seem to do a very big deal in the upgrade...
