I found this transformer in some random pieces of an unknown power supply. Clipped the wires and measured up the voltages.
On the left, AC comes in the top 2 terminals. On the left, bottom three terminals are 32VCT On the right, bottom 3 terminals are 18VCT On the right, top two wires are 32V. What I don't understand is why the top two wires are different. They are made out of it seems some very stiff solid 22AWG wire and covered some a plastic sleeve the slides loosely. They were wired directly to a bridge rectifier that was mounted at the base of the xformer. Since the flash killed my measurements, it's aproximately 4" x 4" x 2.5". Any idea on the VAs I might expect? Thanks. -- Danny |

Thicker secondary wires can be brought straight out. Being fragile, thiner ones need to be secured and connected to a tag or a thicker wire for use by us clumsy punters.
Make sure the widings you use are truely secondarys, and are not taps of the primary

I'm paranoid about the mains
I checked the DC resistance of the windings to find the taps and make sure there weren't any shorts. The windings are as I mentioned them. Thanks for the info. -- Danny |
