Hi there guyz, I'm new here and probably the second south african
![]() A friend of mine gave me two allmost complete Mini Crescendo (By Elektor I think)amplifiers boards, Me and a friend spent the weekend finishing them, but only managed to finish one board, It works, no distortion etc... but it's quite soft!! I know what 70Watts RMS sounds like... Are they really 50 -70WRms? Will they be loud enough to use for a vocal amplifer? ... (I sing in a metal/hardcore band) That is if I use both channels for vocals... will they be loud enough without clipping for use in a small to medium venue?? Any comments much appreciated!! Cheers. Louis. |

50W can be very loud, depends on the situation. Speaker sensitivity is
one factor. If you listen from close distance, it is not much different a 50W or 200W, as long as your system is "perfect". But for PA, it is NOT loud. Sorry ![]() The amp is not suitable for vocal (and many vocal speakers). Many cheaper BJT amps will do better. This amp is suitable for home audio (low power, wide bandwith, low distortion), although it's capability to be driven all day without problem is an important reason why this amp (I mean the crescendo one) is used by many cafe out here. The "soft" bass is prefered by many than the BJT counterparts. The mid (where the vocal is) is not good enough, but I like the amp because of the bass quality. I won't use this amp if not for the bass and the distortion. |

My mini-crescendo's played for years. And they did not sound soft.
They even handled my ESL's better than the Power-AMP of elektor ! grtz Simon |
