Newer saw this. I think, it's something more sophisticated than this with 1k & 1k in SRPP like upstairs. The basic circuit isn't the best choice ...
I still haven't found a definition (or better, an article) that explains what a SRPP is.
Series Regulated Push Pull.
Voltage across a sensing resistor in the middle is held to a constant.
In so doing, the upper end learns how much and when to pull up.

Do you ever think about SRPP in solid state audio (preamp and driver) applications?

SRPP is often part of some super triod amp. construction
But in solid state World? Have you any experience with?
I use an tube SRPP front end on my hybrid tube/MOSFET amp.
It sounds very clean.
