Can anyone help me locating 2SK162 FETs for replacements in an older Hafler preamp? Any recommendations for cross referenced parts also appreciated.
The schematics call for 2SK147 but actual parts on the PCB are 2SK162. These are arranged in parallel configuration as preamp inputs |

If I recall correctly, the 2SK162 was made by Hitachi and was roughly equivalent to the Toshiba 2SK147(except with a higher voltage rating). Both of these parts were discontinued in the early '90s. You should be able to find some remaining inventory from a distributor. If not, the only parts in production that will be close would be to parallel two matched Toshiba 2SK170s.
Keep in mind that all of these Japanese parts have a letter suffix that indicates the Idss rank. You will want to match the original parts as closely as possible. |

If you really need K147s bad enough...send me an e-mail.
Or you could put two K170s in parallel. Depending on the design, either may be overkill. Maybe for a MC stage, you might need them. Jocko |

Aren't the correct part numbers for the Hitachi l-mosfets 2sk1058/2sj162?

Those are power MOSFETs used in the output stages of power amps.

That's OK -- it's easy to mix up the "j" and "k".
