Please suggest a preamp

I would like to build an audiophile quality preamp. Which preamp do you recommend? one is valve & transistor hybrid? based on opamps? Fets? Any Urls are most welcome.

I have searched the forum and most discussions seem to be surrounding power amps. If I miss them, please direct me to the right threads.

Humm what is this pre-amp going to control what kinda amp's? Balanced or line ? How many Imput's?

Jason,

The inputs are CD, DVD, LD and TV. a phono stage will be added in later. The output is an active XO connected to 3 BJT / MOSFET power amplifiers driving a pair of 7 unit full range speakers.

A terrific link / thread. I may try it. Just need to do a bit more research on various preamps.

BTW, I is hard to find a 24 position rotary switch for a volume control.

Those rotary switches are available from Seiden, Shallco etc.
