Default 231 hfe of MJ15004

I have bought a few MJ15004's and MJ15003's. 6 of the 8 MJ15004's had a hfe of 240. other two had hfe of 2 and 118 respectively.

MJ15003's had hfes of 33, 38, 75, 25, 35, 36.

These were all measured with the same dmm.

The MJ15004 with 2 hfe I can send back right?

How about the high hfes?

I am going to use these as the driver stage in the leach amplifier.

Is it ok to use the complementary pair with different hfe's?

I don't think these are fake because I got them from a trusted source.

The hfe figures you quote for the MJ15004s all sound way too
high or too low. Measure them again, and use a different
meter if you get the same results.

I rebuilt my Leach amp using MJ21193/94s, which work just
fine.

Uhm, as drivers?

Could you elaborate on this? Doesn't exactly sound like
you're actually building a Leach amplifier, as the drivers
are normally specified as MJE15030/31s, I think.

These are mine, which are surely genuine parts.
Will measure their Hfe and then compare it with yours.

Cheers

Andrea

u cant measure the hfe of power transistors using your dmm!
i guess u got a dmm with a small socket to measure the hfe ,right?
well this socket is to measure hfe of only small signal transistors, u gotta use higher currents to measure the hfe of a power transistors.

ps those are power transistors not drivers
