Default My new amplifier:)

What do you guys think of my new amplifier?

Some specs:

2x80W 8 Ohm, (Smartkit )
Velleman speaker protection
800VA Toroid
4x10000uF

I use a VERY cheap Eltax AVR-280 Reciever as preamp. (modded)

The next step is to add 3 more channels. This will then be my heart in my (almost) selfmade home theatre system.

Great job. How does it sound?

Is that your handkerchief bolted to the top of the toriod?

It sounds great! I love 2n3055

I couldn't find the original top to the toroid, so a just had to use a bit of 4mm alu...... Not quite as nice, but it works

Interesting heatsinking. How well does it handle the dissipation at full load (~80W sine wave output)? It's a very nice-looking amp. How does it sound?

This is a kit from smartkit denmark, and it isn't 80w.(typingerror)

This is the specs: 60W/8Ohm or 80W/4Ohm (+-40v) (i use +-48v)

But anyway, i have made an ampilfier i'm satisfied with. Watts isn't the only thing to consider anyway.

I compered it with my brother's denon 1604, and we both simply loved the sound i this one. Good "old fasion" sound

I built a couple of amps using the 3055. Everything about those kits was against conventional wisdom, like it had very low feedback, quasi-complementary OP stage and then the 3055 themselves...

But I tell you that 50w amp sounded sweet in the midbass and lower mids.
