Default Anyone with 4W class-A?

I need a small wattage class-A transistor amplifier (even 3W will do). Anyone has the schematic to share?

Isn't the oiriginal Pass DIY Zen class A amp 5W/ch? Do you have to have 4W or 3W?

You can always use an AB polarized for 4W in output class A and the rest in AB. Is not much too heat, and you'll use it most of the time with A, and a respectable headroom.

Downsizing a Zen or any other Pass project should be a breeze.
I have a pair of Mini a monoblocks that doesnīt give more than maybe 5 or 6 watts, a friend offered me some hard cash for them after he had heard them in his system

The big heatsink problem dissappeared but the big transformer stayed And may be it will break the small speaker I'm thinking to use.

So now you know why I want 4W. I have lived with 2.5W and I just wanted more.

The Zen seems to use big heatsink, but I will look again.

Hey Fuling, would you share the schematic?

For 4W Zen heatsink would not be too big, and for Zen lite most heat is in the lightbulbs so you could even use smaller heatsinks for transistor.

you can always use a jlh for that. maybe at lower voltage.

If that's too complicated, you can always use a SE amp for that but it may dissipate more heat.

I donīt have it at hand, but I guess it ca be found at several places here at the forum.
I use IRFP460īs and 2x10V 50VA transformers simply because that was what I had at home.

I built the Son Of Zen with + and _ 12v rails (well a set of 12 v batterys) and with my speakers that didn`t need a high damping
factor it sounded marvious. Thanks again Mr. Pass.
