Any advice on attenuators?

I came across an attenuator from Harris Labs on Ebay:

One of the potential benefits being that it will allow me to use much more of the range of my volume pot. Right now, most of the listenable range is in the 7 to 8 o'clock position. So, it quickly goes from being to quiet to being too loud.

I can see the benefit of having more usable range on the pot, but will it affect sound quality? I will be inserting it between my HK 330c receiver and Polk Audio speakers.

Any advice?

eBay article is "Audio Attenuator pair 12db RCA in to RCA out", it's for line level connections, you cannot use it for amp->speakers connection...

You could insert them in the tape monitor loop of your receiver. You don't want to put attenuators between the amp and speakers.
