Maybe the dumbest question of all-time. If an amp relay is bad, is it really bad??

Hi Joel,
I'm sorry that the answers weren't what you wanted to hear, but you will be better off.

You have two good pieces of equipment. I think it's high time you get in on a group buy or kit from "the store" to become familiar with these things. Watch out for kits on Ebay. Every one I bought has worked, but often the instructions were so poor that I had to use my knowledge in order to get it together. Building kits is fun. Too bad Heathkit died as they had really good kits, and the best assembly manuals. I built my first test instrument with a Heathkit kit. An !M-18 VTVM (vacuum tube voltmeter).
